Empirical Studies of Test Effectiveness and Delivered Reliability

چکیده
White-box testing techniques based on control flow and data flow analysis have been widely studied in the software testing research literature, but there is no definitive answer to the question of how effective these techniques are at finding software faults. In the absence of data indicating how effective (and how expensive) these techniques are, it is hardly surprising that they have not been adopted widely in practice. On the other hand, there is no easy answer to this question. Meanwhile, many analytical and empirical studies of software testing effectiveness have used the probability that a test set exposes at least one fault as the measure of effectiveness. That measure is useful for evaluating testing techniques when the goal of testing is to gain confidence that the program is free from faults. However, if the goal of testing is to improve the reliability of the program ( as determined by the probability that the program will fail when executed on an input randomly selected

Validity and Reliability Reports in Applied Linguistics Research Articles: The case of tests and questionnaire
This study intended to determine the way validity and reliability i.e., psychometric properties were reported in the Applied Linguistics research articles. The study also focused on the measurement methods applied to determine the validity and reliability of the scores derived from the tests and questionnaires in the empirical studies. The corpus of the study included 331 empirical studies deri...
متن کاملEstablishing an Argument-Based Validity Approach for a Low-Stake Test of Collocational Behavior
Most of the validation studies conducted across varying test application contexts are usually framed within the traditional conceptualization of validity and therefore lack a comprehensive framework to focus on test score interpretations and test score use. This study aimed at developing and validating a collocational behavior test (CBT), drawing on Kane's argument-based approach to validity. F...
متن کاملEconomic evaluation of test-and-treat and empirical treatment strategies in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection; A Markov model in an Iranian adult population
Background: Helicobacter pylori may cause many gastrointestinal problems in developing countries such as Iran. We aimed to analyze the cost- effectiveness and cost- utility of the test-and-treat and empirical treatment strategies in managing Helicobacter pylori infection. Methods: This was a Markov based economic evaluation. Effect...
متن کاملMeasuring the effectiveness of human resource information systems in national iranian oil company an empirical assessment
While the growth of MIS investment and its influence is making MIS evaluation ever more indispensable, little attention has been paid to assessing and communicating system effectiveness. This paper attempts to empirically assess the effectiveness of integrated human resource information system in Iranian oil industry. As suggested by recent research, the widely accepted IS success model is...
